Directions: Using the digits 0 through 9, at most one time each, place a digit in each box to create the greatest possible value.
Hint
How do the order of operations tell you what you should do first? What possible values can you make on the left/right side of the equals sign? Which side would it be better to start with?
Answer
The greatest possible value for both sides of the equal sign is 76 which comes from a few possibilities including 76 ÷ (3 – 2) = 4 + 9 x 8.

Wrong me and my friend broke the answer key answer 78 see below
78÷(1-0)= 4+9x 6
Check the right side of your equation. It doesn’t equal 78 since you have to multiply before you add in Order of Operations procedure.
Add a couple of brackets, and you’d be there. 🙂
72÷(4-1)=9+3×5
Each side equals 24.
I don’t think your website works very well.
I agree.
I definitely agree with you. Your comment is amazing.
Thank you!

I finally saw a YouTube video on how to find it. Sorry.
You all need to respect the website and not use it as a game but a tool.
Sorry old timer!
We were able to get 96! 96 / (1-0) = 8+4×3
8 + 4 x 3=20
34/ (8-6) = 7 + 5 x 2
17=17
75/(2-1) = 3+(9X8)
75 =75
A couple of years ago, I was able to print these as a student solvable version without the answer on the printout. Is that still available?
Hi Jacqueline,
You can use the Printfriendly version of this problem (using the Print button above) to print this, and their service allows you to remove any elements you want – including the answer button.
