Add Fractions with Decimal Sums

Directions: Using the digits 1 to 9 at most one time each, place a digit in each box to make the smallest possible decimal sum.

Hint

What is the smallest possible whole number the sum could be?

Answer

• 14/7 + 3/6 = 2.5
• 18/9 + 3/6 = 2.5

There may be more ways to get the sum, but I couldn’t find any more.

I can confirm that 14/7 + 3/6 = 2.5 and 18/9 + 3/6 = 2.5 are the only two ways to get the sum 2.5 and that 2.5 is the lowest sum possible.

  2. @ Hi
You used the number 1 twice

  3. I think 14/7 + 3/6 = 2.5 because I’m better

  4. 18/9 + 3/6 = 2.5 😉

  5. 21/7 + 4/8 = 3.5

  6. So my inference of this equation, would be 14/7 + 3/6= 2.5 i hope my inference of this is right, please let me know if i had gotten this right or wrong!
